Recovery and aftercare

Some discomfort, swelling, bruising or jaw stiffness can occur and may be most noticeable after the first couple of days. Follow the instructions provided, choose soft foods, protect the blood clot and keep the mouth clean as advised. Avoid smoking because it can interfere with healing and increase the risk of complications.

Seek prompt care if bleeding will not stop, pain or swelling is severe or worsening, you develop fever or feel unwell, or you have difficulty breathing or swallowing.
